A twelve year old girl did not like one of her teachers and she posted a Facebook status that said she did not like this Kathy person. She did not use the school computers to post it but she recieved detention and had to write an apology. Not long after the school claimed to have recieved a tip that the girl was using Facebook to talk to a boy in her class inappropriately and told her to give them her facebook password or she would get detention. The American Civil Liberties Union stepped in and the school ended up paying a $70,000 dollar settlement after the girls parents decided to sue the school.
